Public pool safety regulations vary by province and jurisdiction and our best advice is to seek current legislation in your location. 

At this time, Swim Teacher Pro meets or exceeds supervision regulations for aquatic instruction in all Canadian provinces and territories.

• The only pre-course requirement for Swim Teacher Pro is that candidates must be 16 years old within six months of registration. 

  
  

  Candidates are not required to have any teaching experience, but we strongly suggest certification or pursuit of certification in Standard First Aid & CPR, as well as a National Lifeguard Certification. 

  
  

  Candidates who are under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian who agrees to our Terms and Conditions. 

1. Register for the Swim Teacher Pro online course
2. Complete all chapters, activities, and assessments in the course
3. Sign and complete the Swim Teacher Pro Code of Conduct and Ethical Behaviours Agreement
4. Sit through three one-on-one online meetings with your mentor
5. Complete and submit six stroke and skills demonstration videos
6. Perform a real-time stroke observation of 12 pre-recorded video files, and be able to quickly and easily identify the swimmer’s stroke faults and potential corrections. Note: this takes place during the second call with your mentor. 
7. Complete the final Swim Teacher Pro questionnaire 
8. Complete a 40-hour teaching log of your own classes for review (this can be completed retroactively).

3. The option to become a Swim Teach Pro affiliate
4. The ability to teacher the STP Awards Series curriculum in your own pool or aquatics organization 

Once you are Swim Teacher Pro certified, you can apply to become an affiliate. This means that you can license the STP Awards Series curriculum and teach it for your own business. 

Options for affiliate licensing include seasonal licenses (i.e. just the summer) or permanent licenses. Affiliate pricing is based on the number of students where you’re teaching.
